Eric Williams, Esq.

Associate Attorney

Attorney Eric Williams joined Scaringi Law as an Associate Attorney in December of 2021 and brought with him his experience as a former criminal prosecutor and law enforcement officer to our criminal defense, family law, and civil litigation practice. He is based in our Carlisle Office and represents clients throughout Central Pennsylvania.

Attorney Williams puts his experience as a former prosecutor and police officer to good use defending his clients in criminal cases of every kind, including serious offenses such as Drug Delivery Resulting in Death, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Robbery, Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault among others. Attorney Williams has considerable experience in Driving Under the Influence (DUI) cases. That’s because he not only prosecuted them as an Assistant District Attorney but it is also because he made DUI arrests as a former police officer, underwent extensive training in DUI arrests, and became a certified NHTSA Field Sobriety Test instructor of other police officers. Based upon his experience, training, and education in DUI arrests and DUI law, Attorney Williams is very well-qualified to handle any DUI case. As a former prosecutor and police officer, Attorney Williams knows where to look for weaknesses in the prosecution’s case and knows what issues to pursue in presenting a vigorous defense. Having negotiated hundreds of agreements on behalf of the Commonwealth, Attorney Williams knows how to arrange for and obtain favorable plea agreements for those of his clients who do not wish to go to trial. Attorney Williams provides vigorous and effective representation to his criminal defense clients.

Before joining Scaringi Law, Attorney Williams served as Assistant District Attorney in the Lycoming County District Attorney’s office. There he managed a high-volume caseload of misdemeanor and felony cases from the preliminary hearing through trial, including bench and jury trials, sentencing, and appeals. He obtained many guilty verdicts at trial, including the conviction of Ronald Shoop, Jr. in a serial burglary case.

Before becoming a prosecutor, Attorney Williams spent ten years in the Carlisle Barracks Police, Department of the Army in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In this capacity, he worked as a police officer, then as an Instructor and Accident Investigations Supervisor. He oversaw the daily operations for 3 shift police officer unit responsible for ensuring public safety and enforcing the law. He assigned daily missions and reviewed and evaluated outcomes to ensure actions are in line with current policies and procedures. He reviewed training programs to ensure they were meeting Law Enforcement Officer developmental needs. He instructed other police officers in tactical handcuffing, expandable baton, unarmed self-defense, and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. He developed and implemented traffic safety classes for officers and civilians involved in alcohol-related incidents. Attorney Williams also served as a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Field Sobriety Test Instructor with advanced training in Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) protocols. He also served as a Certified Traffic Accident Investigator.

Attorney Williams’ extensive courtroom litigation experience is the right kind of experience family law clients need for their contested cases. Family law cases, including divorce, support, custody, Protection From Abuse, Children and Youth Services, can become hotly contested very quickly. Although Attorney Williams will work with the opposing counsel or opposing party to try to amicably resolve his family law cases, he can also go right into court to defend and advocate for the rights of his clients. Family law clients are well served to have a proven courtroom litigator advocating for them at the negotiating table and in court.

Attorney Williams also puts his courtroom litigation experience to work representing individuals and businesses in a wide range of civil cases litigated in Magisterial District Court cases and County Courts throughout Central Pennsylvania.
