Scaringi Law is proud to share a successful result in a minor guardianship matter in Dauphin County.

In this case, our firm secured emergency guardianship relief to protect a minor child whose health, safety, and welfare required immediate court intervention. The Court then continued that emergency temporary guardianship while further proceedings moved forward.

After additional hearing proceedings, the Court entered a Final Order Appointing Plenary Co-Guardians of the Person of the Minor Child, converting the prior emergency and interim guardianship status into a final plenary guardianship.

This result provided the guardians with full legal authority over the child’s care, custody, control, supervision, residence, and physical placement. It also granted authority to make decisions concerning medical, dental, behavioral health, developmental, and related care, as well as authority connected to records, benefits, insurance, transportation, travel, and other documents necessary to carry out guardianship responsibilities.

The need for guardianship centered in substantial part on continuity of care and the child’s medical needs. Matter materials identify concerns including breech birth, hip displacement or hip dysplasia concerns, recommended bilateral hip ultrasound, and the need to avoid interruption in treatment. The records also indicate that a power of attorney was not sufficient for certain medical and practical purposes, and that guardianship was needed for issues involving medical decision-making and insurance access.

The proceedings also involved notice and hearing steps before final relief was entered. The interim order continued emergency protection, deferred final guardianship relief at that stage, and set a continued hearing on further guardianship proceedings.

This outcome delivered what mattered most: stability, protection, and legal authority to ensure the child’s ongoing care and welfare. It also ensured that medical providers, insurers, schools, childcare providers, governmental agencies, and records custodians could rely on the guardianship order as authority for the guardians to act on the child’s behalf.

At Scaringi Law, we are honored to help families obtain meaningful court relief when a child’s immediate needs demand prompt and effective action.
