Meet Scaringi Law Attorney Elizabeth A. Close!
Meet Attorney Elizabeth A. Close!
Liz joined Scaringi Law in April of 2021 and brings over five years of legal experience to the firm. She works out of the firm’s Harrisburg office and practices in the areas of criminal defense and family law.
Before joining Scaringi Law, Attorney Close served as Assistant District Attorney in the Lebanon County District Attorney’s office where she obtained a 100% conviction rate prosecuting misdemeanor and felony cases. Before she became a prosecutor, she spent four years as an Assistant Public Defender in the Dauphin County Public Defender’s Office. There she handled a high volume of serious criminal cases and gained solid experience in the Dauphin County Drug Treatment Court and Veterans’ Court.
Upon joining Scaringi Law, Attorney Close is putting her experience as a prosecutor to good use. As a former prosecutor, she knows what needs to be done to successfully defend her clients. Having had to prove her cases as a prosecutor, she knows where the weaknesses are and as a defense attorney can use her knowledge of those weaknesses to her client's advantage.
Since joining Scaringi Law, Attorney Close has expanded her practice to include family law, including divorce, support, custody, PFA (Protection From Abuse), and Children and Youth Services cases. In these practice areas, Attorney Close works closely with the firm’s senior family law attorneys, including Attorney Judith T. Walz, who has over 50 years of family law experience.
Asked about her practice style, Attorney Close says that she is frank and straightforward with her clients. She cuts to the chase. She does not tell her clients what they want to hear, but what they need to hear so she can obtain the best result for them. Aggressive when necessary, she also knows when to use her negotiation skills to obtain a favorable result for her clients.
As a family law attorney, she is empathetic to her clients’ needs and can see the bigger picture. This helps clients who are navigating the complex and emotionally charged process in a family law case. She’s a single working mom who knows how difficult it is to raise a child in today’s world. She brings this personal experience to her family law practice.
Attorney Close was born and raised in the Harrisburg area. She knows the courts and the court personnel well. Attorney Close is a proven and effective litigator who vigorously advocates for her clients at the negotiating table and in court.
